Project Review

Part 2 - Assessment Project Review

Looking back at the results of Part 2, my personal thinking about the purpose of recycling and reuse has changed a lot.
In particular, the pair ’s and Damien projects were developed in groups with a small number of people. In fact, I was very unfamiliar and worried at first because I thought that the project to pair with the group would not suit my personality.

Contrary to my concerns, the time to accept and reflect their opinions and create a work was very significant, and I think that a great synergy effect can be achieved in each other's research growth.
As a result, they have all been satisfactory, and I think it is very important to listen to different opinions and research about them before developing a project.
In the Pair ’s project, I started a project based on the artist Nam June Paik, and it was a new challenge for me to present different ideas and integrate them with the same opinion from the perspective of Fashion and Textiles students.
In addition, during the Damien poulain project, I have researched in many ways, including the universal issues of contemporary times, women's rights, global climate issues, and climate related animals, which helped me a lot.

In addition, I was able to do a lot of research by looking at the news articles or editor's essays related to the subject, and the pictures that were clearly delivered.
Photographs or films directly related to the subject can be obtained through a library or internet search, and the color and material of the subject are usually inspired by the places that can be easily found around me.

Unlike Korea, here in London, there are many buildings and other elements that have different colors, and the feelings of seeing and feeling in these real-life places a lot of weight on my work.

The Re (use) project is also related to Recycle, Reuse, Repair, and Replace. In fact, it was a little difficult to select a topic and get a sketchbook point early.
It makes sense to me, but I think it's because I was too deep in the sketchbook that I wanted to get a strong starting point. There were a lot of things like this in all the projects, but every time I write my story and the starting point in my notebook, I have 30 minutes to an hour of time to see my work and see if it's right or wrong. I use this method if there is any confusion because it can be self-checked again to see if it is clearly visible or what I want to say.

Project Evaluation form

Week 2 - 09/ 11 / 2019

Where did you source your secondary research (artists, designers, etc) for this project and how has it influenced your work?

I researched a lot on the website, mainly search, and the books included in Moodle links were researched in the library.

Or, on Instagram, I found a lot of help with relevant content and research in artists and designers' personal accounts or accounts representing brands.

Where did you source your primary research (your ideas, drawing & making skills, workshops, etc) for this project and how has it influenced your work?

I studied various colour mixes in the streets such as vintage shops and the exterior colour of buildings. In fact, I was able to get past the limits of my drawing and the colours I use. Many research inspirations were inspired by the brand's own art books, clothing store interiors, props, and materials used.

(Re) Use

Week 3 - 21 / 11 / 2019

- write brief Description about my object.

The objects in my project are abandoned blinds, sponges, plate of iron, and hairbands.

First, we mixed the contrasting concepts of blocking and covering the outside of the blind(cover) with a sponge(open, refresh) to clean dirty objects I wanted to.

I photographed an abandoned sponge being used as a very structural object in Dover street market.

The idea is to select works related to my project from the structures displayed at Tate modern, create drawings and three-dimensional collages, and create contrasting creations that create strong shapes and objects from soft and weak materials.

Adding a function to my object that has no function, for example adding the function of a blind to a sponge or steel plate.

My 5 visual keywords are like..

-reconstruct

-layer

-functionality

-dehumanise

-texture through materials
